Hello! And if this is the first post you’re reading, welcome! You may like to read this welcome post which tells you more about the membership and what to expect from being part of The Creative Flock.
Below is my regular monthly audio message, halfway through I receive a little visitor to my studio and lose my train of thought. Sorry about that! 😆
Further down the post is more info on what’s coming up this month including the dates for our our co-sketching sessions and details for our drawing session which is taking place on Thursday 22nd August, 7-8.30pm (BST).
Details and links for the live dates are updated each month in this calendar:
Live Sessions Calendar
Would you like to know when we’ll be drawing together this month? Then you’re in the right place.
Why theme-less for August?
It’s the summer holidays here so i’ll be reducing my time in the studio to spend time with my family during the school break. I like to get stuck into the themes I set in the membership and give it the time it deserves, so it made sense to keep this month open and fluid.
I’ve always wanted what I share here to be reflective of my creative practice, and not be forced for the sake of producing ‘content’ (Ugh, I dislike that word.. *shudder*).
It’s also important that my creative practice works in harmony with other parts of my life, such as other work commitments, family and health.
I know many of my readers and members experience a similar juggling act and I’m always appreciative of how understanding you are when I need to adapt what I share or how present I can be here ❤️
As well as the live drawing session and x2 co-sketching sessions there will be two new video posts (see details below), plus our Creative Chat Thread for August and weekly ‘Share Good Stuff From Your Week’* chat threads.
*I really need a catchier title for this!
Live drawing session:
For our live drawing session this month we’ll be revisiting a previous theme and I’d love my members to choose which one. I only ever use a fraction of the image references I gather, so it’d be great to make use of all the unused ones I have stored away.
Paid members: Select your favourite session below, the one with the most votes will be the theme for the live call on Thursday 22nd August.
Co-sketching sessions this month:
I’m running two for August and to save confusion (on my part!) these will be available to all subscribers.
Details are below, sign up via luma.com to get these sessions in your time zone and receive handy email reminders.

These co-sketching sessions are not recorded, all participants will be muted on entry, but you are welcome to switch your microphone on to chat and or use the text chat function.
I look forward to sharing a golden hour of creativity with you! 💛

Chat Threads
If you’re unfamiliar with the chat function on Substack, it’s kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I love this space as it’s a great way for us to get to know each other and encourage supportive conversation among The Creative Flock members. Chat works best in the app, but you can join in on desktop too.
I have two threads:
Every Friday: Share Good Stuff from your Week (all members)
At the beginning of each month: Member Chat. (paid members). This is a creative chat thread for paid members to dip into at any time during the month. It can be used to chat with the Creative Flock community, drop in recommendations, ask me questions, or share creative highs or woes. This is the link to July’s member chat:
If you have any questions or would like to share the creative (or holiday) plans you have this month then I’d love to know. Pop them in the comments below.
