I came across Claire Venusβs thought-provoking note yesterday about 7-day free trials and if they are a useful way to try out someone's Substack publication before committing to being a paid subscriber.
Iβve personally used a free trial as a way of getting to know the person and content before commiting and Substack recommends adding 7-day free trials subscription offers when setting up a publication, so I thought this would be a great option for my subscribers.
However, the replies on Claire's note told a different story, with most people commenting that 7-days isnβt enough time to make a decision on whether to upgrade to a paid subscription.
I currently have a 7-day free trial option for The Creative Flock, which ends on Friday, however, since getting involved in the conversation with Claire and others in her community yesterday, I feel a month trial would be more beneficial, and give the anyone who is considering being a paid member to The Creative Flock, more time to get to know me and what I offer.Β
Claire offers a month's free trial to anyone who asks for it, which is something I'll be adopting too.
Iβd love to know the thoughts of my current free subscribers, so created this poll!
