Your nature journal is so beautiful! I love how that spread you share is building a sort of quiet narrative. Hope you're taking care of yourself and slowly recharging xx

ps Absolutely love Detectorists too!

Hi Nanette, thank you for your kind comment 😊 I want to experiment more with using panels in my nature journal and try and build stories from what I observe, I think it could be a great way of generating ideas. I love the small size of the journal too as it makes the whole process feel more managable.

I've had a lovely break thank you ❤️ Yay, great to meet a fellow Detectorists fan! 🙌

So glad you're pausing for a break Emma! It's so important to give ourselves time to rest. Something I am terrible at!! I hope you feel recharged and have a chance to enjoy more of nature springing to life over April. Perhaps you'll have more time in your nature journal? I look forward to connecting in May!

Thanks Raj! Usually I would push on through, but this time I thought better of it! It never helps in the long run. Yes, planning to continue with my nature journal, and get back into yoga! I'll be a new woman by May! 😆 Take care and catch up soon xx

What a lovely summary of March, Emma! Thanks so much for sharing the video of the murmuration. Seeing this is always a treat and marvel. How do they coordinate their flight, I wonder. Amazing! I hope you enjoy your time and off and get much restoration and recovery. I went through a horrible burnout last year so I have some sense of how you might be feeling. Looking forward to more posts when you return!

Thank you Tara ❤️ I was blown away by that murmuration, I've never seen such a big display with my own eyes! I felt so honoured to witness it.

I'm sorry to hear you have suffered with burnout too, it's worrying how common it is amongst creatives and freelancers. I hope you're gentler on yourself now.

I just checked out your Substack, you're bird illustrations are stunning! Look forward to catching up with your newsletters x

You are so welcome, Emma! When I was growing up in North Louisiana, I used to see huge murmurations of Red-winged Blackbirds and Grackles. I’ve even gotten to see shorebirds doing it, too. I am happy to say that I am gentler on myself. I had a rough spell of anxiety and depression with burnout for good measure. Grateful to be on the other side of it! And finally, thank YOU for taking a look at my Substack, your kind words about my art, and for subscribing. That means so much! 💝
