Thankyou for your honesty in your post Em. I always pack far too much, when really we can get down what we need with just a few, simple materials. I love the little sketches that you squeezed in, and yes, we can memorise so much, for a certain amount of time.

It was slightly amusing to imagine you half running back to the boat with your rucksack full of materials 😆

You’ve completely sold it to me, I would love to visit Skomer Island, it looks breathtaking.

I think you would love Skomer, Kat ❤️ Haha! Yes, it was ridiculous and had to laugh about it afterwards 😂 I packed less than half the amount of materials for my trip to Croatia last week, but still only used a few items!

That’s such a magical place, those puffins 😍

I can completely relate to not being able to sketch a lot on location, I’m still in Cornwall and I’m enjoying the fact that it’s raining and I can have a morning of painting from pictures I took last week 😅

I love the work you made with the pentel brush divided into 4 sections, such a different way to frame a work and the textures are beautiful!

Oh, sorry for missing your comment Pauline!

Yess! I'm counting down the days until the puffins return to the island and I can go back to see them!

Your trip to Cornwall looked incredible, it's such a special place. When I visit, I find there's so much to see and experience It's almost impossible to focus on one thing to draw. Such a great idea to make the most of a rainy day for indoor sketching. If you're like me, I bet you'll have a lifetime of photos to draw from 😆

Thank you for your kind comment! I really enjoyed making those panels, I think it'll become a regular theme for me in my sketchbook.

What a wonderful trip. The puffins are so pretty they’re almost unreal with their colourful beaks, I love that they live in burrows !

We’ve been to Wales quite a few times and love it there. There’s an amazing glamping place near Cardigan called ‘Fforest’ which I’d highly recommend if you decide to go back again :)

Ooh, thanks for the tip Sarah! We stayed in a small airbnb for the trip but I'd like to try something different next time, perhaps glamping could be it!

Yes, their colourful beaks make then so unique! It's strange to think they only have this while they're breeding and it almost entirely fades away during the winter.

What an inspiring place, thank you for sharing so many pictures and clips Emma 😍 I think carrying too many art supplies is a lesson we all tend to learn somehow, feels relatable 😄 hopefully we will remember that next time! And I 100% agree with you that sometimes just be and feel the moment and place is all we need, we can draw it later! Plus family time is so important 🤍

You're welcome Teresa! It's amazing how relatable the habit of overpacking is! 😆

Thanks for sharing, Emma! I always take loads of art supplies on hols and then probably just use a sketchbook and a pencil, maybe a fineliner pen at a push! We also have an annual family Holiday in the Lake District at Keswick - the home of Derwent Art... So I usually come back with even more supplies than I took!!

How wonderful! I love the Lakes but it's been years since we went, we're long overdue a visit. Somehow, i've never been to the pencil museum! How is this possible?! 😆
